Privacy

What this website does and does not know about you. In plain English, because privacy policies that nobody can read protect nobody.

The short version

This is a static website. It has no accounts, no logins, and no database of readers. We do not set advertising cookies and we do not run a tracking pixel.

Photographs on the wire

Story photographs are displayed from the original publisher’s own servers rather than copied onto ours. That means when a page loads, the publisher’s server receives the request and can see your IP address, the same as if you had visited their site. We send no referrer information with those requests.

Video

Videos are embedded from YouTube using its no-cookie player, which does not set tracking cookies until you press play. Once you press play, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies to that playback.

Links out

Most headlines here lead to other publications. Once you follow one, you are on their website under their privacy policy, not ours.

Forms

When form submission is switched on, we will use what you send only for the purpose you sent it: to consider your music, to list your church, or to answer you. Contact details supplied through a form are never published and never sold. You may ask us to delete anything you have sent, and we will.

Hosting

This site is served by GitHub Pages. GitHub keeps its own server logs; see GitHub’s privacy statement for what those contain.

Children

This is a general news site and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the change will be dated here.
