Corrections Policy

We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we say so plainly, in public, and we leave the record standing.

What we do when we get something wrong

• The correction is added at the bottom of the story itself, with the date it was made, so anyone reading the story sees it.
• The correction is also listed on this page, permanently, at this address: https://gospelnewsaccess.com/corrections.html
• We do not silently edit a story and pretend the error never happened. If the substance changes, it is marked.

The difference between a correction and an update

A correction means we published something that was wrong. An update means the situation changed after we published. Both are marked and dated; they are not the same thing and we do not use one word to hide the other.

Wire stories

Most headlines on our front page are from other publications and link to them. If one of those stories is wrong, the correction has to come from the publication that wrote it — we cannot correct somebody else’s reporting. Tell us anyway: if a story is seriously wrong we will remove it from our wire.

Chart data

If you believe a chart position is wrong, send the chart name, the chart week, the title and artist, and what you believe the correct figure is. Chart data corrections are listed here like any other.

How to request a correction

Please include the headline, the date, and what specifically is wrong. You do not have to be the subject of the story to ask.
